Breezy, cheesy, not-so-easy, and a little sleazy.

That reminds me of an old friend whose valediction was always, “Take it sleazy”. It’s still sage advice.

I probably won’t take this quiz till I get the “all clear” from the doc on Tues. I don’t want to threaten you or end up on “1 South” at Our Lady of Peace,” either.

    In the meantime:

I got a 16. I didn’t take major in Cooking or English, but I *did* study Social Sciences at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, so I definitely know what it feels like to be out of place. I started out in Food Sciences and Nutrition, but after taking a few social science electives decided to change majors. My freshman year I took the Required English class and after I’d written a few papers the professor told me I already had an A and didn’t need to attend class anymore.

But I still want to attend the poetry reading/cheese tasting party. Give us the deets, dude.

Wait a minute. Check please! You got to skip out on the remainder of your Required English class because your first few papers were that good. You’re the anti-Sylvia Plath, and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s a detail from The Bell Jar that I’m pretty sure is one of many autobiographical ones that her heroine is such a great student she gets to skip having to take chemistry.
Strictly speaking she was terrified it’s the one class she’d flunk so she talked her advisor into letting her audit the class and sat in the back writing sonnets and villanelles. I like to think Mad Girl’s Love Song is one of the ones she wrote.

The anti-Sylvia Plath, huh? I don’t know if I should feel honored or not. I ended up taking my philosophy class credit-no credit because I hated the teacher. And the teacher made me hate the subject. (I got an A, as it terms out). Anyway, regarding the English class, it wasn’t really that I was such a great student, it was more that I was surrounded my guys who were engineers, architects, chemists, etc. I also went to an awesome high school that got us very prepared for college.

So I’m a little late getting back to you, but I did appreciate Google’s doodles for Earth Day. There were several but I assume the octopus was the one you had in mind. And it was impressive.

This weekend I plan to compose a limburger while nibbling on some good-quality rondolet.

I look forward to reading that limburger. I’d be willing to bet it doesn’t stink.

Damn it! I’m not sharing my score. Apparently I don’t know my cheeses all that well, which is sad given that it’s my favorite food and I live in Europe where cheese is sort of a…thing! Anyway, very clever quiz!

To be fair they weren’t all European cheeses, although poetry is also sort of a thing in Europe. My wife used to work with a guy who was related to Eduard Mörike. As a highly regarded German poet I hope you’re at least familiar with the name.

I got 21. But then again, I always had a love for cheesy poetry. And cheesy jokes, haha.

And cheese too I hope. Actually it’s one of my goals in life to try every cheese mentioned in Monty Python’s “Cheese Shop” sketch, although I think I might pass on the Venezuelan beaver cheese.

I scraped through to Vegas by the skin of my brie. I got 10. A lot of them sounded familiar but the first 10 I got almost exclusively the opposite answer to the one required; I thought verse was cheese and vice versa. Well I always did prefer limericks.

It’s good that you got as many as you did. Looking back I think that quiz was harder than I really wanted it to be. I want them to be entertaining and fun. If they’re just hard and mentally exhausting I Camembert it.
