The most interesting thing about lightning bugs is that most of them identify as fireflies and wish the non-glowers would respect their preference.

The last thing I want to do is be disrespectful to a firefly, even if “lightning bug” does sound much more badass. Then again they’ve got asses that light up so that’s pretty bad already.

I like the leather packing Photuris. Most lightning bugs are all flash and dazzle. No substance.

Photuris is an interesting genus because the fireflies it attracts are expecting to get laid but get murdered and eaten instead. Most guys seem to be uncomfortable with that but I can’t stop laughing about it.

Damn, at least the Praying Mantis gets laid before getting murdered and eaten.

It’s terrible that the lightning bugs don’t even get to get in touch with their inner larva.

They’re especially hard to see in the dark.

I could buy the fear of the dark thing.

Fortunately for lightning bugs even if they are afraid of the dark they always have a light source nearby.
