I’m glad you liked it and I wonder how many people notice that the totals add up to 108%, which accounts for the oddly skewed nature of that pie chart.

Drummer Boy is obsessed with coconut oil. As in, he cooks with it, eats it, conditions his hair with it, and rubs it into his skin. It’s like being in love with a Mounds bar.

That sounds delightful–at least if you like coconut, which I do. My wife for some reason hates it. Although it also sounds like kind of an expensive obsession, even if he’s getting his coconut oil at Costco.

I’m not sure if I am too English to get the humor or just plain stupid – but I am completely confused.com. And for the record, I am very suspicious of coconut oil and all the claims made about its health giving properties – I think there is a glut of coconuts in the world and the resulting multitude of products are being pushed on us gullible health freaks. Just sayin!

You’re not stupid but you may be overthinking it. In fact that’s one of the downsides of being too smart sometimes. Anyway you were thinking in the right direction. It’s not just a glut of coconuts in the world but the ludicrous and apparently growing number of oils now flooding the market, especially in hair care products which seem to specialize in combining three or more in all their products. And five years ago no one outside of Morocco had heard of argan trees and now argan oil is in everything. Excuse me. I need to calm down now.

I hate coconut but often cook with coconut oil, and use it on my scars. I went on an olive oil tasting tour which I didn’t even know was possible (we dipped bread in…I’m not quite ready to chug!). I like avocado oil for my hair and nails which didn’t even rate, and I’d never even dreamed of taking home Shea stadium oil although now I’m doomed to have nightmares about it.

The olive oil tasting sounds intriguing. I’ve never seen one of those but I have had to tear myself away from olive bars. I can’t be trusted with the free samples policy.

Venezuela is a major supplier but the others are renewable sources.
